24 Hours of SEC Football

College Football Season has now “officially” arrived!

Opening day for me started off at 4:30 a.m.  I showered, grabbed an orange roll  which was leftover from the previous night’s dinner at the All Steak in Cullman (which ended up all over my shorts), and walked over to Jeremy Sandefur’s house to meet Jeremy and his groomsmen.  We were able to get Jeremy tickets to the Georgia game to celebrate his last weekend as a “bachelor”.

On the way to Athens, I updated my Facebook status from my cell phone expressing my desire to go to the Alabama/Clemson game.  Within minutes, my phone rang (thank you Darrell Gibson) and I landed tickets to the game.  I called Jaime and she hitched a ride to Atlanta with Justin and Blair.  This was turning out to be a near perfect day!

We had a great time watching the #1 Georgia Bulldogs put a beat down on Georgia Southern.  We had outstanding seats.  Georgia has a lot of weapons this year.  The loudest the Georgia fans got all day was when Uga VII was introduced.  He put on his new collar, went to his new dog house, and slept on a block of ice all game.  Here are some pictures from the “hedges”…

As soon as the Dawgs “finished the drill”, we left Athens and headed to Atlanta, wear Peyton and I left the other groomsmen and rolled into the Georgia Dome to watch the biggest game of the weekend.  I met Jaime at “the dome” and we hiked up to our seats in the upper deck to witness the instant effects of Nick Saban’s #1 ranked recruiting class as Bama faced the #9 Clemson Tigers in the Chick-Fil-A, College Football Kickoff game!

The Tide dominated the entire game!  It was a beautiful thing to witness!  Bama’s freshmen class contributed in a huge way.  John Parker Wilson played with the confidence that we have been waiting for since his Sophomore year.  The Tide’s defense held the Tigers to 0, that’s right, 0 yards rushing.  Clemson’s only touchdown came on a 97 yard kickoff return.  Bama answered immediately and showed that they too know how to “FINISH THE DRILL”.  The Clemson “faithful” fled the stadium as if Tommy Bowden had called for a mandatory evacuation of the Georgia Dome.  The Tide rolled, 34-10!  The future looks very bright for the Crimson Tide!  Our baby girl got to experience her first Bama game from the friendly confines of Jaime’s uterus.  It was a day that she will never forget I’m sure.  Here are some pics…

After the game, we hopped on the MARTA, met Justin and Blair, and headed back to Birmingham.  It was an awesome, but exhausting day!  It will be hard to top.  My head hit the bed at around 3:30…23 hours of college football excitement!  Roll Tide Roll!
