I attended the Taylor Swift Fearless Tour on Friday night.  Jaime could not attend so my friend Justin went with me.  Thanks to Tom Hanrahan for hooking us up with amazing seats!  Like her music or not, Taylor Swift puts on an amazing show!…  And, meeting her was pretty cool too!

Vodpod videos no longer available.

more about “Mandi Mapes“, posted with vodpod

I first heard Mandi Mapes at a youth ministry conference last fall.  She is part of the worship team at The Church at Brook Hills, here in Birmingham.  I can’t wait for her to release an album.  Her music was featured as a part of a “soundtrack” to David Platt’s sermon series on Ruth, called Love Story.  I can’t wait for her to release an album.

Tyler Dean is Creepy

I am a fan of country music but this is getting a little out of hand…

I see a weird trend developing.  Taylor Swift “name-dropped” Tim McGraw with her first single and it launched her career…

(that is my dream guitar that Taylor is playing by the way)

I don’t think Tyler Dean’s song will have the same results.  I hope Taylor Swift has a restraining order on him.

Who will be the first to release a single entitled, “Tyler Dean”?  Rap music is becoming more appealing.

My Cousins Can Sing!

My cousins, Chris and Craig West are both phenomenal singers. They have both sang professionally with different Southern Gospel groups around the Southeast. I could listen to Craig sing all day long. Here is a YouTube video of Craig singing “I Bowed On My Knees And Cried Holy”:

Chris has one of the best bass voices that you will ever hear. Here he is singing “Going Home”:

Reason #84 Why I’m Not Fond of Roger Clemens

As if I needed another reason not to like Roger Clemens, he goes and does the unthinkable.  Several websites, including ESPN.com, are reporting that Clemens had an alleged decade long affair with McCready starting when Clemens was a 28 year old pitcher for the Boston Red Sox and McCready was only 15 years old!  (More on McCready and our past in a minute)

I can’t remember exactly when I started disliking Roger Clemens.  I think it probably all started when he was a New York Yankee and said that he would never go to Cooperstown with a Boston Red Sox hat on.  He may be lucky to get in at all now.

It could have been when, in a fit of roid rage, he tossed a piece of a broken bat at Mike Piazza in the 2000 World Series.

 roid rage

It could have been the fact that while playing with the Astros he never traveled with the team to games on the road and only seemed to show up when he was the starting pitcher.

It could be because he seems to retire from baseball every year and then shows up around mid-season and wants to play on a team contending for a spot in the World Series.

It could be his stupid mid-life crisis, bleached blonde, spiked, N*Sync, Lance Bass hair…

It could be because he and his wife seem to share a lifetime supply of human growth hormone and pose for pictures like this…

Liar, cheater, etc…

On top of all that, Clemens has now made it personal with his alleged affair with Mindy McCready.  McCready and myself have history together…

Me and Mindy McCready

My relationship with McCready started after she opened for George Strait in Birmingham in 1995.  We met backstage where this picture was taken.  I was an instant fan/stalker.  Anyone who visited my basement bedroom in Jasper saw the above picture blown up into a poster on my wall.

Clemens was in Boston at the time and little did I know, their affair had been going on for four years..no wonder my calls weren’t returned.

Our relationship ended when she decided to marry Superman (Dean Cain).  I wonder if he knew about Clemens.

McCready’s life soon started spiraling downhill at a rapid pace (much like Clemens’ career is currently doing).

McCready mug

I blame Clemens for the fall of the talented Mindy McCready.  It should be interesting to see how this plays out.

Not a Runner!

10:47 p.m

I’m currently listening to the “Amazing Grace ” movie soundtrack.  Amazing Grace

I woke up this morning and met Chris to run at 6:00 a.m. I haven’t ran for the sake of running in years. Needless to say, I was in no shape to run the length of a 5K. I had to walk on 3 different occasions. I finished the route in 33 minutes. Not very good. It felt good afterwards though.

I spent most of the day at work making calls to potential sponsors of the golf tournament. Chris, Casey, Chad, Russ, and myself ate lunch at Dave’s pizza and watched some of the first round of the NCAA tourney.

After work, I took a power nap and then Jaime and I went to eat mexican at Sabor Latino. We then went to Academy where I bought a Ping Pong paddle. We swung over to Wal-Mart to pick up some dog food but ended up spending way more than we planned. We are concluding our evening watching the NCAA tournament. Gonzaga and Duke have messed up my bracket but I’m still in good shape.

I haven’t read my daily scripture yet. I took the book home with me but I need to make a point to read when I arrive to work.

My messy house is getting on my nerves. I get in a bad mood when I look around this place. I should stop talking about it and do something about it. But, as soon as I clean it, it will get messy again. This is one of my biggest frustrations right now.

Prayers:

Beach Breakaway
Cody Ballard
Uncle Bob
My family as they go on vacation

Two-A-Day

10:16 p.m.

I feel better after a good hot shower. I’m currently listening to “Glory Revealed”Glory Revealed on CD. I purchased it today at Lifeway.

I’m preparing for my morning run with Chris Hunsberger. I don’t think I’ve ever run more than a mile. I will be running the 5K route in the morning. I played basketball tonight after church and my feet are already hurting. I’m actually more worried about getting up at 5:45 than the actual run.

Jaime is making fun of my shallow “blog”. She is also doubting my ability to finish the 3 miles tomorrow. She is worried that I am going to hurt myself.

I’m off to bed!
